Axar Patel's lone-warrior knock ended in dramatic fashion as India C player, Manav Suthar plucked a sensational catch and brought his side back in the contest. Axar was toying away with the bowlers, and India C needed a miracle to dismiss him, and Manav provided just that with his excellent take.

Axar Patel stamps his authority on opening day of Duleep Trophy

The dismissal ended India D's innings, as the team got bundled out for a paltry 164 after being put into bat on a spicy wicket, favourable for the bowlers. India D had a horrendous start with the bat, losing wickets at regular intervals. On a bowling paradise, the India D batters struggled for runs, and at one stage, they were tottering at 76/8, when Axar stood tall for his side.

With wickets falling, he decided to take the aggressive route and smacked 6 sixes in his brilliant knock of 86 runs. He was the lone-warrior for his side, and dragged his score from 76 to 164 as India D had something to cheer about.

What started as a brilliant day for India C, turned into a nightmare when Axar was batting. However, Manav Suthar took a brilliant catch to end his valiant innings.\

Axar slogged a Hrithik Shokeen delivery towards the deep mid-wicket region, but didn't get the elevation which was required to clear the field. Suthar was not on the edge, but he kept his eyes on the ball and turned back swiftly to put in a brilliant dive and grab the catch.

India C batters rocked after Axar's assault!

The India C bowlers allowed Axar to score a couple of extra runs and that came back to haunt their batters, as the India D bowlers had their tails up. Going after a total of 164, the India C team suffered early jolts and looked clueless against Harshit Rana and Axar Patel.

Both the bowlers looked pumped up and scalped 2-wickets each as India C are struggling at 43/4, still behind by 121 runs.
