Indian pace sensation Harshit Rana stole the spotlight with his unique 'flying kiss' celebration during the opening round of the Duleep Trophy 2024, which commenced on September 5. The celebration came after Rana dismissed India C skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, who edged one to slip for a single-digit score.

On Day 1 of the match at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur, India D was restricted to a modest total of 164 runs. When India C came to bat, Rana's fiery bowling made an immediate impact.

The Kolkata Knight Riders pacer, who had earlier faced scrutiny for a provocative gesture in the Indian Premier League (IPL), showed that his intensity remained intact but now paired it with a playful celebration.

Rana's performance was instrumental in dismantling India C's top order. He dismissed both the fellow opener Sai Sudharsan within five deliveries, putting India C on the back foot early in their innings.

Sudharsan managed just seven runs before being caught behind, while Gaikwad’s fate was similar, falling to another precise delivery from Rana.

Harshit Rana's Controversial Flying Kiss Celebration During IPL 2024

Harshit Rana’s on-field enthusiasm has been a topic of conversation since his stint in the IPL 2024. He faced disciplinary action after a similar 'flying kiss' send-off during a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he dismissed Mayank Agarwal

While the celebration entertained spectators, it was deemed provocative, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) responded by fining Rana 60% of his match fees for breaching the IPL’s Code of Conduct.

The incident didn’t end there. During a match against Delhi Capitals, Rana was on the verge of repeating the flying kiss gesture but pulled back, opting for a more subdued hand signal directed towards the dugout. Despite his attempt to restrain himself, he was handed a one-match ban and fined 100% of his match fees for repeated violations of the conduct code.
