Sanju Samson has long being considered as a talented batter but an inconsistent one. However, he has matured a lot in the last few years, and now he has finally arrived at the international stage with two back-to-back T20I hundreds. He hit his maiden T20I century against Bangladesh in Hyderabad recently and on Friday, he followed it up with a fantastic century against the Proteas at the Kingsmead, Durban.
Sanju Samson' Shows Consistency At International Level
Both the centuries from Sanju Samson came at a rapid pace and he displayed great power-hitting skills. The right-handed wicketkeeper batter hit 107 off 50 balls with seven fours and ten sixes and kept hitting shots, even when he was close to a century. After the game, Suryakumar Yadav praised Sanju Samson for his hardwork over the years and how he kept the team infront even when he was close to a major landmark.
The Indian skipper also expressed his happiness after India's comfortable win by 61 runs and hoped that his team will continue performing well in the upcoming matches.
"Is it, I didn't know about that. (On India's unbeaten record at Kingsmead) Good thing, we have been playing the same brand of cricket. Haven't changed much, happy with the win. (on Sanju Samson) He has worked hard over the years and is reaping the fruits of that. Even when he was in 90s, was looking to hit the big shots. Keeping the team in front so nice to have him in the team."
Along with Sanju Samson, Varun Chakaravarthy also continued his good form and bagged three wickets and so did Ravi Bishnoi. The second T20I will be played at St. George's Park, Gqeberha on Sunday, and India would be itching to take a 2-0 lead with another dominating performance.
