During the second ODI match between Australia and Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval, there was a lighthearted exchange between Australian spinner Adam Zampa and Pakistan’s new captain, Mohammad Rizwan.
The moment happened in the 34th over when Naseem Shah bowled a short ball, tempting Zampa to go for a big shot. Zampa tried a hook shot but missed, and Rizwan, who was keeping behind, caught the ball and appealed for a catch behind the wicket.
Rizwan, thinking there might have been contact with Zampa’s bat, considered using the Decision Review System (DRS). Instead of consulting his teammates, Rizwan directly asked Zampa, "Did you hear something?"
To which Zampa, with a smile, responded, "Are you appealing for everything?"
Not giving up, Rizwan playfully asked, "Should I take the review?" Adam Zampa encouraged him to go for it, so Rizwan went ahead and challenged the on-field umpire’s decision.
When the third umpire reviewed the footage, it showed that the ball hadn’t touched Zampa’s bat before landing in Rizwan’s gloves. So, the on-field umpire’s call was upheld, costing Pakistan a review. Luckily for them, it didn’t matter much, as Zampa was dismissed on the last ball of the next over.
Haris Rauf's Five Wicket Haul Restrict Australia For 163
Earlier in the game, Australia had a rough start after being put in to bat. Shaheen Afridi quickly dismissed both openers, and although Steve Smith tried to stabilise things with a 35-run contribution, he couldn’t go much further. Haris Rauf’s impressive spell of 5 for 29, along with one wicket each from Naseem Shah and Mohammad Hasnain, restricted Australia to a total of 163 runs in just 35 overs.
