India will take on Bangladesh for the first of two Test match series on September 19 at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The upcoming games are crucial for both teams as they eye to qualify for the finals of WTC 2025.

India are on top of the standings, while Bangladesh are placed fourth and stand a good chance to make it to their first WTC finals. The Tigers are high on confidence as they whitewashed Pakistan 2-0 in Rawalpindi and scripted their first-ever series win over Pakistan in Test cricket.

Bangladesh would look to replicate the same against India, but they face an uphill task as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli await them in Chennai. Speaking about Rohit, he last played a Test more than six months ago when England came to India for a five-match Test series.

However, Bangladesh must not take Rohit lightly, as the hitman smashed a century in his last Test innings. The Indian skipper scored 103 (162). Thus, Bangladesh must come up with strategies to get Rohit out, which, itself is a huge task. Nonetheless, there are a few ways that The Tigers can think of getting Rohit out.

1. Get Him Out On A Short Ball

Rohit's strength is to pull short-pitched deliveries and dispatch them to the stands. Rohit is arguably the best batter to play the pull shot. However, there have been a few instances when his strength has turned into his weakness.

A few times, Rohit has mistimed his pull shot, and by placing a fielder at the boundary can get hitman's wicket. One of the best men for Bangladesh to fetch Rohit's wicket is Taskin Ahmed, who can trouble Sharma slightly with his pace.

2. Force Him To Play Sweep Against Spin Across The Line

One of the new shots that Rohit has added to his kitty is the sweep shot. The hitman is a technically sound player, and shots like sweep don't come naturally to him. Nonetheless, he boasts a mixed record using sweep shots, as he has found success playing it, but also threw his wicket away, as seen during the T20 World Cup 2024.

3. Bowl Full-Length Deliveries To Create Pressure On Him For Clearing 30-Yard-Circle

One of Rohit's recent weaknesses, which the opposition exploited quite a lot during IPL 2024, was his unable to clear the 30-yard-circle on full-pitched deliveries. Rohit has often handed easy catches to the fielders standing at mid-on or mid-off.
