Rohit Sharma has been a revelation for Team India, ever-since he was promoted as an opener in 2019. The masterstroke by the captain-coach duo of Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri paid dividend as in the last 5-years Rohit has arguably been India's best Test batter.

After the retirement of Virender Sehwag, India needed an aggressive opener, but they couldn't find one. However, that all changed in 2019 as the team decided to promote Rohit at the top and the rest, as they say is history.

Time and again, he has given electrifying starts and is known as someone who loves to deal in sixes. Ahead of the Test series against Bangladesh, Rohit is on the cusp of breaking Virender Sehwag's long-standing six-hitting record, and he might break it in the first Test itself.

Rohit set to eclipse Sehwag in 'this' six-hitting record

Virender Sehwag, another explosive opener of his time had smashed 90 sixes in 103 Test matches, and Rohit already has smacked 84 sixes in almost half the matches (59). He just needs 7 more big hits to surpass the India legend.

The way Rohit has taken the new aggressive approach in the last one-year, don't be surprised if he achieves the feat in the first game itself.

Rohit lands in Chennai for first Test

On Friday, Rohit Sharma landed in Chennai to prepare for the upcoming Bangladesh challenge. Team India under Rohit have been at the top of the WTC points table, and will look to strengthen their position with a series whitewash against them.

Rohit also has a great chance to cross 1,000 run-mark in 2024 (across formats). So far, he has 990 runs in 20 games, and needs just 10 runs to cross the 1,000-run mark.
