3 Things Rohit Sharma Should Do Differently In The 2nd Test Vs Bangladesh To Return To Form

India will face Bangladesh for the 2nd and final Test of the series on Friday, September 27, at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. The Rohit Sharma-led side had a near-perfect game in the first match.

During India's 280-run win over Bangladesh in the first match, the middle-order batters were on song, and the bowlers were firing as expected. The only negative for Team India that they would look to resolve in the upcoming match is the top-order's silence with the bat.

Veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are yet to fire in this series, particularly the hitman, who fell for single-digit scores in both innings. This article will discuss three things Rohit should do to return to form.

1. Start Innings With His Aggressive Approach Similar To ODIs

In the last couple of years, Rohit has donned a new role. He starts hammering the new ball right from the word go and provides a perfect platform for the rest of the batters to score runs and put a mammoth total on the board.

Even in Tests, Rohit should approach his innings similarly, as he looked timid against Bangladesh. In the first innings, the hitman scored 6 (19), which featured a solitary boundary. Even in the second innings, he scored 5 (7). Rohit looked defensive, and thus, he was troubled by the pace.

If we look at Rohit's innings against England in the last Test in March 2024 where he scored a century, he smashed a boundary in the first over and then went on a rampage with a six and four in the first twelve deliveries he faced, which helped him gain confidence. He scored 103 (162).

2. Practice Swing Bowling In The Nets

Rohit gets troubled by swings, which is also true when a bowler can move it both ways. Thus, the best way for Rohit to counter-swing is to practice it more and more in the nets.

He is a great player of sheer pace, but when the balls start moving in the air, the hitman begins panicking. Reports suggest that the Kanpur surface will be slower and lower than Chennai; thus, Rohit has a great chance to play the seamers carefully and return among runs.

3. Play Spin Carefully

Since Kanpur pitch is slower, it will assist the spinners. Thus, Najmul Shanto would look to bring spin early on. Meanwhile, Rohit has developed an unnecessary knack of playing unorthodox shots against spin, as even seen in T20 World Cup 2024 final, which has eventually resulted in his wicket. Hence, the hitman should play his natural game against the spinners to get back to form.
