After a historic Test win against Bangladesh in Chennai, the caravan will now move to Kanpur, which will host the series' second and final Test match. Green Park Stadium will host the 2nd Test on September 27.

In the first match, India dominated every session and registered a 280-run win, their biggest win against the Tigers in terms of runs. It was not a typical Chennai pitch full of spin and turn from day 1; rather, the surface assisted the seamers, as seen on day 1 of the Test match.

India vs Bangladesh: Seamers Shine At Chepauk

India, batting first, lost wickets to seamers as Hasan Mahmud was all over the Indian batters and registered a five-match haul, while Jasprit Bumrah shone for India and took a four-wicket haul. It is worth noting that out of 34 wickets that fell in the Chennai Test, 20 wickets were taken by the seamers.

Not just the seamers, but the pitch offered bounce which also helped batters to score big runs as ball came nicely onto the bat. Notably, R Ashwin stitched a century in the first innings, while Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant also reached the three-figure mark in the second innings, which allowed India to post a mammoth total of 515 runs on the board.

India To Ditch Red Soil For Kanpur Test

The primary reason for the change in the surface at the Chepauk Stadium  was that the pitch was prepared using red soil, which offers more bounce and helps the seamers. However, the latest reports suggest that the Kanpur pitch will offer lower bounce and be slower in nature as it will be prepared using black soil.

According to ESPNCricinfo, the pitch at Green Park would be flatter, and the bounce would be much lower than what was seen throughout the first Test at the Chepauk Stadium. It would also get much slower and help the spinners as the match progresses.
