Pakistan suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the first Test match at Rawalpindi.

The hosts looked clueless throughout the Test match, and Bangladesh took full advantage of it, winning the Test by 10-wickets to go 1-0 up in the series.

It was a humiliating defeat for Pakistan, who last won a Test match at home, way back in 2021. With just a couple of days left for the start of the second Test, the Shan Masood led side have little time to recover. Hence, let us look at 3 things they need to do right to win the match.

Babar needs to find his rhythm back

It is pretty much visible that for Pakistan to win a Test, Babar Azam needs to score runs. He has been constantly failing in the Test setup for the last 1.5 years, and the first Test was an example of it.

The former Test skipper scored just 22 runs runs in the entire match, and also registered a 2-ball duck in the first innings to cap off an average game for the talented batter. He needs runs under his belt, and if he gets going, Pakistan batting will get the much needed boost to win the second Test match.

Forget what happened in the first Test

Let bygones be bygones. Pakistan don't have the time to reflect upon the loss at the hands of Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. They need to have a forward thinking.

This was Pakistan's first Test match loss ever, against the Tigers, and it would have affected their mindset for the rest of the series. However, the team needs to regroup and focus on what lies ahead, in order to seal the win.

Bring in a specialist spinner

For some reason, Pakistan thought that going in with four seamers, and no specialist spinner in the playing XI was a good idea. They saw a tinge of grass on the surface and went in with four quicks, which backfired on them. Bring back Abrar Ahmed and take one pacer out of the side.

Bangladesh showed Pakistan how it is done in the second innings. The cracks started coming out and Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz ran riot, picking up 7 wickets between them to seal the historic victory.
