Bangladesh cricket team has scaled new heights to topple arch Asian rival Pakistan in the first Test of the two game series held in Rawalpindi.

Bangladesh responded with 565 runs total in the second innings after the hosts declared first innings at 448/6.

Meanwhile, tables turned on Day 5. Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan chipped seven wickets in total to induce a surprising collapse. Babar Azam got his second duck of the game, and Pakistan plummeted to its lowest Test total (146) against Bangladesh in the blink of an eye.

The nominal chase of 30 runs was wrapped up in 6 overs as Bangladesh scripted history to win their first-ever Test match against Pakistan, that too on the latter's home soil.

Here's a list of all records broken in the historic Test game

  • Bangladesh records its first-ever Test victory over Pakistan in 14 games. They had lost 12 games prior to the Rawalpindi contest and drew one. With that, India and South Africa are the only two nations that are yet to be defeated by Bangladesh.
  • Bangladesh registers its first ever 10-wicket victory in Test format. Their biggest victory margin prior to this contest was the 8-wicket win over New Zealand at Mount Maunganui in 2022.
  • The Rawalpindi Test was Pakistan's first-ever 10-wicket defeat in Tests, both home and away combined.
  • It's the first instance of Bangladesh winning a Test in which their opponent declared an innings.
  • Mohammad Rizwan became the first wicket-keeper to score the most aggregated runs for Pakistan in a Test match. He scored 222 runs, including a century and a half-century.
  • Bangladesh's 565 all-out in the first innings is now their highest team total in a winning cause.
  • Mushfiqur Rahim became the highest scorer for Bangladesh in Pakistan in Tests with 191 knocks in the second innings. He is also the oldest Bangladeshi player to score a century in Tests.
  • Also, Mushfiqur Rahim now has the most overseas hundreds (5) for Bangladesh in red-ball cricket.
