In the latest development around BCCI, there are reports that late Arun Jaitley's son Rohan Jaitley is the frontrunner to replace Jay Shah as the BCCI secretary, in case Shah gets elected as the next ICC chairman.

A few days ago, current ICC chairman Greg Barclay confirmed that he would not contest for a third term and leave his position after the end of November 2024.

“ICC Chair Greg Barclay confirmed to the Board that he will not stand for a third term and will step down from the post when his current tenure finishes at the end of November. Barclay was appointed as the Independent ICC Chair in November 2020, before being re-elected in 2022,” the ICC stated in a media release.

According to a report from News18, Rohan's appointment depends on Shah's decision. Meanwhile, Jay Shah is one of the front-runners for the role and has to file his nomination before Tuesday, as August 27 is the last date for filling nominations.

Who is Rohan Jaitley?

Talking about Rohan Jaitley, he is the current president of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA). He is also the son of the late politician Arun Jaitely. At present, Jaitley's recent work for DDCA includes the Delhi Premier League which is in full swing at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

However, Jaitley's application for BCCI secretary moves forward only if Jay Shah files his nomination. If he does, then as per reports, 15 of 16 members are in favour of Shah's appointment.
