Resuming on fifth morning at 23-1, Pakistan lost captain and overnight batter Shan Masood in just the second over of the day to a back-of-a-length delivery from Bangladesh seamer Hasan Mahmud. Senior man Babar Azam and first-innings centurion Saud Shakeel also fell in succession to Nahid Rana and Shakib Al Hasan respectively as Pakistan slipped to 67-4 in 27 overs.

Pakistan lost two more wickets at the stroke of lunch in the form of well-set opener Abdullah Shafique (37 off 86) and all-rounder Agha Salman. All in all, the hosts walked into lunch at 108-6 to find themselves another nine runs away from the deficit.

Mohammad Rizwan went on to list a fighting half-century in the post lunch session to help Pakistan overcome their first innings deficit. However, the dashing wicketkeeper-batter kept losing partners at the other end to Bangladesh spinners Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Shakib trapped Naseem Shah with a flighted delivery to finish with figures of 3-44, while Mehidy (4-21) accounted for four of the final five Pakistani wickets to fall in the innings.
