The Women's T20 World Cup was moved to the UAE, after careful consideration from the ICC regarding the violent chaos taking place in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh were the original hosts, but the political turmoil in the nation resulted in shifting of the entire tournament to UAE. Interestingly, UAE has already hosted a T20 World Cup (men's) in 2021, and this will be the first time they'll host a women's ICC tournament. The Women's T20 World Cup will commence from October 3, featuring 10 teams.

Now, with the tournament shifting, the big question arises, how will the UAE pitches differ from the ones in Bangladesh?

The sample size for Women's T20 matches in the UAE, especially Dubai are small. However, if we talk about the Women's bilateral matches which took place between 2015 to 2017, then there is very little to choose between batting first and chasing.

The record stands at 5 a piece, but the history of the Dubai surface states that it is always better to chase, considering the dew factor, especially in night matches. The surface behaviour won't change much from Bangladesh.

In UAE, the pitches will assist the spinners, the same was the case with Bangladesh pitches. That is why, more and more teams will pick a handful of spinners when announcing squads for the World Cup.

Also, the last time a World Cup took place in UAE (2021), it was a low-scoring affairs, especially in Abu Dhabi, where only three games witnessed scores in excess of 180. Dubai hosted 13 matches, with the first 11 witnessing only one score in excess of 160, while batting first.
