Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Director, Mo Bobat, has confirmed that Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is still recovering from a shoulder niggle and is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Australia. The update comes just ahead of RCB’s crucial clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), scheduled for May 17 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The IPL season itself has faced unique challenges this year. A one-week temporary halt was enforced due to escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.

In the most recent development for RCB fans, reports suggest that Hazlewood is preparing to rejoin the squad by the end of next week. This timing could see him back in action just in time for the IPL 2025 playoffs.
Speaking on RCB’s official Bold Diaries show, Bobat said,
“And in Josh Hazlewood's case, he's obviously been managing a shoulder niggle, which he's had for a couple of weeks now. He's still back in Australia and he's still working on his rehab to come back from that shoulder niggle. We don't have any updates right now at the minute, so we're going to have to take that day-by-day.”
Bobat acknowledged the difficulties in organising last-minute security and coordinating travel plans, especially for overseas players. He credited the management and support staff for acting swiftly to ensure minimal disruption for the squad.
Josh Hazlewood's Stellar Form In IPL 2025
It is important to note that Hazlewood missed RCB's previous fixture against CSK due to the injury. For RCB he has been one of the standout bowlers in IPL 2025 season. The Australian speedster has claimed 18 wickets in just 10 matches, currently placing him third on the list of leading wicket-takers.
