The Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to resume with a highly-anticipated fixture between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, May 17.

The encounter is under serious threat from adverse weather conditions. According to forecasts, Bengaluru is expected to experience heavy thunderstorms, raising the possibility of a rain-affected or even washed-out encounter.

The IPL 2025 has already seen weather disruptions this season, with two matches  KKR vs PBKS and SRH vs DC abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain. As the tournament enters its decisive phase, weather once again emerges as a potential game-changer.

How Rain Will Affect The Campaign Of The Two Teams?

RCB have built strong momentum with 16 points from 11 games this season. The team is are just one win away from securing a playoff berth. On the other hand, KKR are in a must-win situation needing victories in both of their remaining games and relying on other results to fall their way.

If the match is ended in 'no-result' due to rain it would push RCB closer to qualification with one point, but not guarantee spot in playoffs. For KKR, a washout would be a major blow to their playoff hopes, leaving them heavily reliant on other teams’ outcomes and net run rate calculations.
