Veteran Indian bowling legend Anil Kumble has stepped up and asked people not to blame batters; instead, he believes another critical point that led to India's defeat in the Wankhede Test and eventually led to their series defeat to New Zealand.

India, for the first time since 2000, faced a whitewash at home and struggled to put up strategic scores on the board in all three Tests. As a result, the lack of performance and form of senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has become a pressing issue, highlighting the need for change and improvement.

Kumble Questions Gambhir And Rohit

Speaking on the humiliating loss, Kumble lambasted skipper Rohit Sharma and India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir, by asking them why they opted for a 'rank turner ', a pitch that heavily favours spin bowlers, because the Indian batters were out of touch.

"Don't blame the batters, you give a rank turner and expect them to chase 150 in the 4th innings, captain and coach should be asked why they gave rank turner when you know your batters are out of form," he said.

India's WTC Spot In Danger After 3-0 Loss To NZ

This loss significantly jeopardises India's position in the World Test Championship final as there qualification is in danger. After winning the toss, New Zealand decided to bat first, and were bowled out for 235 on day 1 itself. India responded with a spirited start on day two but took a slender lead of 28 runs, however New Zealand somehow managed to score 174 in their second innings, despite Ravindra Jadeja's five-wicket haul.

In a chase to win the game, India's world class batting line crumbled, while Pant was left with his half-century to be an island in this sea. The last hope of India vanished when Sundar went with a bashing that helped New Zealand finish their memorable series sweep in jubilant celebrations.
