'What Do You Reckon, Hafeez?' - Vaughan's Brutal Response After NZ's 401 Against PAK

Michael Vaughan wasted no time to hit back at Mohammad Hafeez after Pakistan's horrendous bowling display and questionable team tactics in the must-win ICC World Cup 2023 clash versus New Zealand in Bangalore on Saturday (November 4).

As Babar Azam's men decided to play an all-seam attack for a day fixture on a dry surface at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and were hammered for a mammoth 401/6 in 50 overs with their historic strength, the former England skipper responded to the ex Pakistan captain following latter's surprising social media remarks against him.

Hafeez pulled off a shocker when he misconstrued Vaughan's remarks on Pakistan cricket amidst controversies based on an alleged rift between PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf and skipper Babar Azam in the build-up to the must-win game against the BlackCaps.

The former allrounder had cited David Willey's premature retirement from international cricket as a testimony to England's own problems and tweeted:"Better stop peeping into other's problem and sort out ur disputes first. We have sizeable insight about our issues and will surely resolve them @MichaelVaughan."

Vaughan Responds To Hafeez Amid PAK-NZ Clash

Speaking on the popular 'Club Prairie Fire' podcast ahead of Pakistan's much-anticipated fixture with New Zealand, Vaughan had taken a sarcastic jibe on Pakistan cricket and the entire fiasco between Ashraf and Babar, including leaked WhatsApp messages used by the PCB head to nullify outside claims.

Having pressed "the secret to Pakistan doing well is controversy" on the podcast, Vaughan had insisted: "I worry about Pakistan tomorrow .. it’s been too calm this last couple of days .. they need someone to resign today or leak a what’s app message."

Hafeez had taken offence to Vaughan's tweet and remarks rather than understanding the humour rooted in the former cricketer's words on the mercurial nature of Pakistan cricket. He was then requested to join Vaughan and fellow podcast expert Adam Gilchrist by the former.

Vaughan, however, didn't stop there and further rubbed salt into Pakistan and Hafeez's wounds by lambasting the team's horrific bowling effort in Bangalore after choosing to play an all-seam attack on a dryish surface.

On the cricketing front, Pakistan are cruising in the chase of 402 runs against the BlackCaps in Bengaluru. They have scored 160 runs inside 22 overs, with Fakhar Zaman batting at 106* and Babar Azam on 47*.

The game has currently been paused due to rain. The Men in Green are currently 10 runs ahead on the DLS method.
