New Zealand's young promising all-rounder Rachin Ravindra on Saturday (November 4) bagged a humongous feat at the ICC World Cup 2023. The BlackCaps left-hander, whose promotion up the order has been pathbreaking for the Kiwis, became the first batter in the history of the game to record three centuries in his debut World Cup campaign.

At the tender age of 23, Ravindra pulled off a memorable achievement against Pakistan at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, reaching the three-figure milestone for the third time in what is his maiden World Cup appearance.

Having earlier blasted centuries against England and Australia at the marquee tournament on Indian shores, the young gun lit up New Zealand's must-win league stage encounter against the Pakistanis and further consolidated his spot amongst the top run-getters of the competition.

Ravindra reached his hundred by tapping a slower ball bouncer to the on-side against Pakistan seamer Mohammad Wasim Jr during the 34th over in the BlackCaps first-innings batting effort in Bangalore, raising his bat to soak in the praise from the healthy crowd present for the fixture while etching himself in the record books.

Rachin Ravindra Bags Special Record

Apart from becoming the first-ever batter to make three hundreds in a maiden men's World Cup campaign, Ravindra also established his name as New Zealand's most frequent centurion at a single edition of the quadrennial event. Previously, Kiwi giants Glenn Turner (1975), Martin Guptill (2015) and Kane Williamson (2019) had held the record jointly with two hundreds apiece.

The rising young talent jumped over the three men in the esteemed list and also above three other players - Stephen Fleming, Scott Styris and Nathan Astle - who made two hundreds for New Zealand in their overall World Cup career.

Surpassing them all, Ravindra is now BlackCaps' highest century-maker at the coveted event after hammering substantial scores of 123 not out versus England, 116 against New Zealand and now a magnificent 108 against Pakistan with a place in the semifinals at stake.

Also with his tally of World Cup hundreds, Ravindra inched past his inspiration and childhood hero Sachin Tendulkar in the count of centuries at the big event before turning 25. Tendulkar, who played his first World Cup at age 19, had clocked two hundreds to his name before celebrating his 25th birthday. Ravindra now has three aged 23.
