Smriti Mandhana, the dynamic cricketer from India, recently expressed her thoughts on the comparisons between herself and Virat Kohli, following Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) victory in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 final.

RCB emerged victorious against Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals (DC) by 8 wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. In the aftermath of RCB's triumph, there has been much speculation about whether Virat Kohli, the captain of RCB's men's team, could lead his side to victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

However, Mandhana was quick to dismiss any comparisons between herself and Kohli, emphasizing the respect she holds for the accomplished cricketer.

“Title is one thing, but the other No.18 has achieved a lot for India and that is a big thing. So, I don’t think the comparison is right in terms of where my career is and what he has already achieved,” Mandhana told reporters.

Mandhana went on to emphasize that she does not appreciate being compared to Kohli, highlighting the immense contributions he has made to Indian cricket and the inspiration he has provided to many aspiring cricketers.

“I don’t like being compared because what he has achieved has been great; he has been an inspirational person. The title doesn’t define a lot of things. We all respect him, and I feel like the respect in Indian cricket has to be right up there for Virat,” she said.

With her remarks, Mandhana not only showcased her humility but also underscored the importance of respecting Kohli's legacy and achievements in the world of cricket. As RCB prepares to face MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the upcoming IPL match.
