In a major twist, the Royal Challengers Bangalore are gearing up for a name change before the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season in a bid to reverse their luck and end a 16-year trophy drought.

Although the franchise has yet to make an official announcement, they have strongly hinted at it through a social media video featuring actress Rashmika Mandanna.

In the video, Rashmika Mandanna is seen wiping 'Bangalore' off the Royal Challengers Bangalore name on a mirror, indicating a switch to 'Bengaluru' in the RCB name.

The franchise is undertaking this change to turn their luck around, given the Royal Challengers Bangalore's track record over the past 16 years, despite boasting top-tier talent, they have fallen short of claiming any championship.

The franchise is set to make the official announcement during the upcoming boxing event scheduled for March 19 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Several celebrities will attend the event, including the famous international singer Alan Walker.

Among the cricketers present will be former RCB captain Virat Kohli, current skipper Faf du Plessis, and Dinesh Karthik. One can catch the live stream of the event exclusively on the RCB YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, RCB Women claimed the WPL trophy on March 17th, defeating Delhi Capitals Women with eight-wicket win in the one-sided final of the 2024 Women’s Premier League, held at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium.
