Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has backed the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to upstage the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the upcoming Eliminator of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

RCB, under the spirited leadership of Faf du Plessis, has registered six successive wins in the backend of the league stage to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs by a whisker.

Apart from praising the collective brilliance of RCB players, Chopra also praised team opener and current ‘Orange Cap’ holder Virat Kohli for his stellar run with the bat off late.

Chopra cites THIS reason as RCB’s potential pitfall

Former Test opener Aakash Chopra believes the law of average is the only factor that can work against the RCB franchise when they face Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator.

The cricketer-turned-commentator highlighted the same considering Faf du Plessis and co. will be entering the Eliminator with a streak of six successive wins.

“The scales, without doubt, are tilted towards Bengaluru. They have the momentum. The only thing that can go against them is that they have won six consecutive games. A bad day can come anytime but they are a team on the rise with a lot of hunger. So I am going with RCB," Chopra said while taking to his YouTube channel.

Aakash Chopra also attributed RCB’s newfound success this IPL 2024 season to Virat Kohli’s consistency with the bat. Moreover, the former Indian opener also hailed Kohli’s passion and aggression on the field.

“This team's graph is going upwards. So which are the big, big pieces that have worked well? Virat Kohli's passion, aggression and consistency. He has been absolutely stellar. He is unstoppable. He has decided that he has to do and show something different this season. Virat Kohli consistently doing well is absolutely mandatory in their turnaround," he added.

The much-awaited IPL 2024 Eliminator between the RCB franchise and Rajasthan Royals will be staged at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on May 22.

The winner of the match will subsequently face the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) group in the second qualifier of the tournament.
