The veteran batter from South Africa was bought by the RCB for INR 7 crore at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Faf du Plessis took over the captaincy of RCB in the year 2022, he has captained the team for 23 matches out of which RCB has won 12 games and lost 11 matches.

Virat Kohli was also one of the names that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise bought into their team, and he is still a member of the same team, which is a record because no other player has done the same.
Virat Kohli, " The Chase Master" has led the franchise across a maximum number of matches from 2011 onwards. He has led the Team in 143 matches with 66 victories in them.
Shane Watson
Shane Watson had led RCB across three matches during the 2017 edition, after Kohli had missed those fixtures due to a shoulder injury he had sustained during the Ranchi Test against Australia that year.
