Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have had a stellar Indian Premier League (IPL) season, culminating in their entry into the finals after a commanding victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Qualifier 1 match on Tuesday, May 21.

Despite a valiant effort by SRH batter Rahul Tripathi, who scored 55 runs off 35 balls and stabilized the innings, SRH could only post a score of 160.

Tripathi's dismissal was particularly heartbreaking; he was run out by a brilliant effort from Andre Russell and wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Following his run out, the 33-year-old was seen emotionally distraught near the dressing room staircase.

KKR, riding high this season, chased down the target in just 14 overs, winning by 8 wickets. Their clinical performance was a testament to their dominance throughout the tournament.

After the match, KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan was seen consoling Rahul Tripathi, a former KKR player. Their heartfelt interaction, captured in photos and videos, quickly went viral, highlighting the strong bond between them.

With this victory, KKR secured their place in the IPL 2024 final, which will be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on May 26. They await the winner of Qualifier 2 to determine their opponent.

Meanwhile, SRH will need to regroup quickly as they prepare for the qualifier 2 match on May 22. They will face the winner of the eliminator between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, set to take place on Wednesday. This match will determine who SRH will compete against to stay in contention for the championship.
