'Sorry To BCCI And..' - Shami Apologises In Latest Post After Missing Out On BGT Squad

On Friday, October 25, the BCCI released the T20I squad for the upcoming South Africa tour and announced the 18-member list for the five-match Test series against Australia starting on November 22.
The squad featured several new names such as Abhimanyu Easwaran, Harshit Rana, and Nitish Reddy. However, there were a few noticeable names missing as Mohammed Shami failed to recover in time and could not make the final cut.
Shami Fails To Recover In Time For BGT 2024-25
The right-arm seamer, who has been out of action since the 2023 World Cup final because of an ankle injury, was touted to be fit till the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but dealt a new blow in his knee during his rehabilitation that further pushed his return.
In the latest events, Shami has broken his silence on his absence from the 18-member squad and apologised to his fans and the BCCI.
“Putting in my efforts and getting better with my bowling fitness day by day. Will continue working hard towards getting ready for the match and to play domestic red ball cricket. Sorry to all cricket fans and BCCI too, but very soon I’m ready to play red ball cricket, love you all,” he wrote.
It is worth noting that Shami had regularly updated his fans about his injury status and hit the nets a couple of months ago, hinting that he is all fit and ready for the upcoming Australia tour.
