On October 24, Mohammed Shami took to his Instagram account and shared a short excerpt from one of his recent nets training sessions. In the caption, he wrote:
“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”
Mohammed Shami last featured for Team India during the 2023 World Cup final against Australia back in November last year. Featuring in just seven matches of the tournament, the speedster snapped 24 wickets at an astonishing average of 10.70 to finish as its most successful bowler.
Shami subsequently sustained an ankle injury that has kept him out of cricketing action since then. Having spent much time at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for rehabilitation, the 34-year-old has been making rapid recovery with each passing week.
Earlier this month itself, the legendary fast bowler was spotted bowling to Indian assistant coach Abhishek Nayar at the nets of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
While speaking with the reporters, Mohammed Shami also expressed his desire of attaining full recovery and making his return to the Indian team for the upcoming five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series in Australia. Team India is slated to tour Australia in mid-November and will play their first Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth from November 22 onwards.
