Brisbane Heat skipper Jess Jonassen assisted the Indian fast bowler with a juggling catch inside the ring to account for the early exit of Adelaide Strikers opener and South African veteran Laura Wolvaardt.

Shikha Pandey took the field for Brisbane Heat against defending champions Adelaide Strikers Women at the latter’s home ground in the opening match of the WBBL 2024 season on October 27. Sharing the new ball with Australian fast bowler Nicola Hancock, Pandey dismissed Strikers opener Laura Wolvaardt in just the third over of the match after the South African batting giant scored a sluggish eight-ball five.
Pandey’s Heat captain Jess Jonassen assisted the speedster with a sharp and juggling catch inside the ring.
Apart from claiming the first wicket of the WBBL 2024 season, Shikha Pandey also accounted for the dismissal of Adelaide Strikers wicketkeeper-batter Bridget Patterson during the slog overs to claim astonishing figures of 2-14 in her four-over spell. Pandey’s double strike helped Brisbane Heat restrict the defending champions to just 133-5 at the end of their innings.
Chasing 134 for a win, Grace Harris listed 29 runs from 25 balls at the top of the order for Brisbane Heat. Captain Jess Jonassen also chipped in with a handy 21 in the middle order while England all-rounder Charli Knott top-scored in the innings to set up a concrete platform for her team.
