Rohit Sharma's India prepares to kick off a busy home season on September 19 with the first of two Test matches against Bangladesh in Chennai with the second Test match scheduled at Kanpur. 

But it is worth mentioning that the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy is creating significant excitement already. While the immediate focus remains on the Test series against Bangladesh and then New Zealand. 

For India, the series against Australia holds immense importance, not only for their World Test Championship (WTC) campaign but also for the chance to make history by clinching a hat-trick of Test series wins against the Kangaroos. 

Smith, Starc, Lyon Make Their Choice Between Gill And Jaiswal

As the build-up to the BGT intensifies, some of Australia’s biggest cricket stars have weighed in on which Indian cricketers they believe will shine in the coming years. 

During a segment aired on Star Sports, prominent Australian players, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, and Marnus Labuschagne, were asked to pick the Indian player they see as the next big superstar in world cricket.

Two names emerged as clear favourites Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. While both players have earned praise for their exceptional performances, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been singled out by several Australian cricketers for his ability to adapt across formats.

In the viral video clip, without hesitation, Smith and Starc backed Jaiswal and even praised his technique, temperament, and flair. Lyon, Australia’s premier off-spinner, also spoke about Jaiswal’s ability to counter spin, which has made him a standout player in Indian conditions.

It is important to note that, Travis Head and Cameron Green voiced their support for Shubman Gill. They further stated and praised Gill's ability to score freely at the top of the order, combined with his impressive technique. 

India will next be seen in action against Bangladesh, the squad has been announced and both Gill and Jaiswal have made their spot.
