The St Lucia Kings and the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons are battling it out in the 17th match of the CPL 2024 at the iconic Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St. Lucia.

The Falcons won the toss ahead of the game and put the Kings to bat. The two openers of the Kings, Johnson Charles and Faf du Plessis, got the team off to a good start. They stitched together 40 runs for the first wicket in 4.4 overs.

The fifth delivery of the fifth over in the innings saw the Kings lose their first wicket, Johnson Charles. Johnson Charles's departure triggered a mini-collapse for the Kings, who lost two more wickets within a couple of runs.

Green jolted the Kings with double blow

It was the sixth over of the innings, where the skipper of the Falcons, Chris Green, weaved his magic. He picked up two consecutive wickets in this over on the fourth and fifth delivery. It was the wickets of Faf du Plessis and Roston Chase which hurt the Kings badly.

On the fourth delivery, Green bowled a slightly shortish delivery, and Faf du Plessis tried to slash over the off side. But the batter got a leading edge and was taken by Roshon Primus at the edge of the ring. On the very next delivery, Roston Chase tried to heave a full delivery at the leg stump. This time, too, all the batter managed was a top edge taken by Sam Billings.

After the fall of these two wickets, Auguste and Tim Seifert tried to steady the ship for the Kings. But a rain interruption of over an hour messed with their progress and immediately after the break the Falcons chipped away with wicket and put the Kings of the back foot.

Chris Green finished his spell of four overs with four wickets for 22 runs. At the time writing the Kings are stationed at 140/2 in 19.2 overs.
