Punjab Kings's experienced batter Shashank Singh predicted his team's first-choice playing XI for the upcoming Indian Premier League season. Led by Shreyas Iyer, PBKS will face Gujarat Titans in their first match of IPL 2025.
Azmatullah Omarzai Dropped From Shashank Singh's PBKS XI
Shashank Singh grabbed a million eyeballs through his spectacular performances in the IPL 2024. Meanwhile, the middle-order batter surprised many when he omitted in-form all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai from the Kings' XI for the IPL 2025.
In an interview with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, Shashank picked Josh Inglis and Prabhsimran Singh as Punjab's opening batter. He slotted skipper Shreyas Iyer at three while keeping veteran Australian all-rounders Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell at four and five, respectively.
Shashank, who scored 354 runs at an average of 44.25 and a strike rate of 164.65 last season, kept himself at six, with Nehal Wadhera following him at seven.
He went on to choose South African cricketer Marco Jansen as the seam-bowling all-rounder over Omarzai. Harpreet Brar and Yuzvendra Chahal made it into his team as spinners, while he chose Arshdeep Singh as his lead pacer.
It's worth mentioning that Omarzai showcased remarkable form in the Champions Trophy, scoring 126 runs and scalping seven wickets across three matches. So, considering his red-hot form, it will be an unfortunate scenario if he gets excluded due to the overseas quota.
