The eighteenth season of the Indian Premier League is around the corner. The lucrative league begins with a riveting contest, as RCB take on arch-rivals KKR in a high-octane clash at the iconic Eden Gardens.

Several prominent players have graced the IPL in the RCB jersey over the years. However, as the tournament's 2025 edition approaches, here are 3 former RCB superstars who could be massive threats to them in the competition.

1. Yuzvendra Chahal - PBKS

(RCB middle order batters vs leg spin in IPL)

  • RCB's former spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will represent Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025. After RCB released Chahal, Rajasthan Royals purchased him before the spinner joined PBKS in last year's mega auction.
  • As evidenced by the above stats, RCB's middle order batters have a poor collective record against leg spinners in the IPL. Although Krunal averages 26.8 and strikes at 140.6, he has also been dismissed twelve times by the leggies.
  • So, considering Chahal's experience and ability to outfox the batters, the veteran spinner could be Punjab's game-changer against RCB in IPL 2025.

2. Faf du Plessis - DC

(Du Plessis vs Bhuvi, Hazlewood and Yash Dayal in IPL)

  • Legendary South African batter Faf du Plessis will represent Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025. The seasoned campaigner joined the DC camp after the franchise secured his services in the mega auction.
  • As shown in the above table, Du Plessis has enjoyed stellar success against Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal in the IPL.
  • So, the veteran batter, who led RCB in the IPL last season, could be their biggest nemesis with his scintillating stroke play against these bowlers in the powerplay.

3. Mohammed Siraj - GT

(Siraj's IPL record at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium)

  • IPL's 2025 edition will witness Mohammed Siraj going up against RCB for the very first time in the tournament's history. The experienced Indian pacer was purchased by Gujarat Titans for INR 12.25 Crores and is expected to play a pivotal role for them in the IPL 2025.
  • Siraj mostly led the pace attack as a lone warrior while playing for RCB. However, the fast bowler will be paired up with Kagiso Rabada this time around. In cricket, fast bowlers do operate and hunt in pairs; so, his association with Rabada will give Siraj the licence to bowl in attacking lines.
  • Furthermore, his experience of playing at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium could be beneficial for the Titans when they face RCB on April 2. He is a genuine wicket-taker with the new ball and could be a threat to Virat Kohli, Phil Salt and Rajat Patidar if he finds a hint of movement.
