Team India extinguished England’s ‘BazBall’ fire for the third time in succession to seal their five-match series with a Test to spare. Riding on captain Rohit Sharma’s splendid half-century and Shubman Gill’s valiant rescue act, the hosts overhauled their 192-run target in the afternoon session of Day 4.

After the match, Sharma hailed his team’s collective performance, and also praised Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel for his composed knocks in both innings of the Ranchi Test.

While speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Indian captain Rohit Sharma expressed his relief of conquering the visiting Englishmen for the third time in succession to seal their five-match rubber. He said:

“It's been a very hard-fought series, without a doubt. And to come on the right side of it at the end of four Test matches feels really, really good.”

Sharma also praised young wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel for his “composed and calm” knock of 90 in the first Indian innings, considering it took his side near the English total. The Indian captain further praised the 23-year-old for batting with much “maturity” in the decisive innings of the match alongside number three Shubman Gill. He added:

“Jurel, especially playing his second game, showed solid composure, and calmness as well, and got the shots as well. The guys played all-round the wicket. In the first innings, 90 of his was very, very crucial for us to get close to that target, close to that first inning runs that England got, and then obviously again in the second inning, showed a lot of maturity, a lot of composure as well, along with Gill.”

Rohit Sharma further claimed that while Team India has performed well in the last three Test matches, they also came close to winning the Hyderabad affair in the series opener. The dashing opening batsman stated that the Indian team will go to Dharamshala for the final match with the same ambition and intent, one that has yielded them much success thus far.

“What we did in these last three test matches, even Hyderabad, I think we played well, fell a little short there. For us, nothing changes. We will still go with that same ambition of making sure that we do all things right and make sure we take it from them.”

Rohit Sharma will now lead his Indian troops in the fifth and final Test of the series. The much-awaited match-up will be staged at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala between March 7 and March 11.
