Dhruv Jurel had a Test match to remember in Ranchi, having scored a gritty 90 followed by an unbeaten 39 against England in a series-defining fourth game of the series. As a result, he was rightfully awarded Player of the Match, and more significantly, hit the winning runs as well.
After losing Sarfaraz Khan and Ravindra Jadeja in successive deliveries, India slipped to 120/5 after coming to chase 192. Jurel steadied the ship from thereon, and Gill gave him much-needed support to hold the fort before taking their side past the finishing line.
Notably, it was also the first time a 150+ score was chased down in a Test match in India since 2013.
The winning run was hit at the end of the 61st over in England’s innings, bowled by Tom Hartley. The Englishman bowled a tossed-up delivery to Jurel, who played through the deep square leg in an attempt to complete a double.

India only required two runs to get the job done, and Jurel started celebrating before even completing the second run after knowing there was no danger.
Rohit & Co. will next play England for the one last time on March 7 in Dharamsala before the focus shifts to IPL 2024.
