Happy Retirement, Rajat Patidar: Netizens React As RCB Batter's Struggles Continue For India

Rajat Patidar's disastrous run in his maiden Test series for India extended to the fourth-innings of the Ranchi Test against England as the Madhya Pradesh right-hander was out for a duck and missed a golden opportunity to be team's hero in the run-chase.

Walking in at No.4 after the successive departure of in-form openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma, the struggling Patidar once again inspired little confidence about his stint in the middle and couldn't even open his account before he was dismissed on a Shoaib Bashir off-spinner.

Patidar was out inside edging a sharp incoming delivery from the tall spinner towards the short-leg fielder and suffered yet another failure in the series since making his debut in Visakhapatnam.

Patidar played a similar innings for the score of 17 off 42 deliveries in the first half of the Test match, inspiring zero confidence of him outlasting the England attack with minimal assurance behind his defensive prods and overall technique.

The right-hander, who had forced his way into reckoning with a pair of tremendous first-class seasons for MP and India A, emerged in a sorry state in the Ranchi Test, continuing his poor run with the bat at the coveted No.4 slot, vacant in absence of legend Virat Kohli and his initial replacement KL Rahul.

Given Patidar's failings persisted for India, he faced the wrath of the fans on social media.

Patidar is now in serious danger of being dropped for the fifth and final Test of the series to be played in Dharamshala from March 7, having stitched together scores of just 32, 9, 5, 0, 17 and 0.
