Royal Challengers Bangalore faced another setback in their Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) campaign as they succumbed to a seven-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday.

Despite a valiant effort from Ellyse Perry, RCB couldn't overpower the defending champions. In a post-match reflection, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana hailed Perry's resilience.

"Pezz (Ellyse Perry) is a fighter. She wasn't hundred percent today but the way she was moving on the field, anyone would doubt that. She played a good knock to take us to that total," Mandhana said.

Perry, returning to RCB's squad after missing the previous game, showcased her batting skills with an unbeaten 44* off 38 balls

It was Ellyse Perry’s unbeaten knock that helped RCB post a decent total. However, RCB's struggles commenced early in the powerplay, leaving them at 33/3. Mandhana admitted their batting fell short.

"I think we didn't get the start we needed and failed to boss the game. We will look into the different areas to improve and we have two days to work on those."

Despite Perry's efforts, RCB managed to set a modest target of 132 runs. Mumbai Indians, led by Nat Sciver-Brunt, swiftly chased down the total with contributions from Yastika Bhatia and Amelia Kerr.

Chasing the target, Mumbai Indians reached 133/3 in just 15.1 overs, securing victory with 29 balls to spare. The win propelled Mumbai Indians back to the top spot on the points table with six points from four matches.

RCB, on the other hand, suffered their second consecutive loss in the tournament, landing them in fourth place on the points table.
