Of late, the 24-year-old received a lot of criticism for not converting the starts into big scores in Test cricket. He began the Test series against England on a not-so-bright note, registering scores of 23, 0, and 23 in his first three innings.

However, the Indian batter silenced all his critics with his stupendous 103-run knock in 147 balls. Gill played a crucial knock in the context of the game, helping the team win the second Test by 106 runs.

In the following Test, Gill got out on a duck for the second time in the series but followed it with a stellar 91-run knock.

In pursuit of a 192-run target, India found themselves in trouble at 120 for 5 in the fourth Test. But Gill stepped up, once again, as he guided India to a five-wicket win. The Indian batter overcame his nerves, stitched a brilliant match-winning partnership with Dhruv Jurel and finished off the chase with an unbeaten 52-run knock off 124 balls.

Heading into the fifth Test, the 24-year-old should be looking to carry on his good form. Meanwhile, the Indian team will reach Dharamsala on 4th March to begin preparations for the fifth Test.

Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma was, recently, spotted arriving in Jamnagar for Anant Ambani's wedding bash. Indian spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, meanwhile, has reached Dharamsala. He, recently, shared the photos after reaching the beautiful city along with India S&C coach Soham Desai.
