In a setback for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) season, explosive batter David Miller will be sidelined for the next two weeks due to injury.

The South African powerhouse sustained a niggle, forcing him to miss GT's recent match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 4.

Kane Williamson, who stepped in for Miller in the clash against PBKS, disclosed the news during the mid-innings show.

"Nice to be out there with the guys. A shame to lose David (Miller) for a week or two," Williamson expressed, highlighting the significance of Miller's absence.

Miller's absence poses a challenge for GT, as he has been a pivotal figure in the franchise since 2022, delivering impactful performances consistently.

His recent knocks, including a blazing 44 off 27 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and a quick 21 off 16 balls against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), underscore his value to the team.

GT's new captain, Shubman Gill, commended Williamson for his contribution in the previous match, where he scored 26 runs from 22 deliveries. The 33-year-old, regarded as one of the finest batters in modern-day cricket, lauded Shubman for his sublime knock that comprised six fours and four sixes.

"Shubman (Gill) is a fantastic player," said Williamson during the interview.

Gujarat Titans, currently positioned seventh on the points table with 2 wins and 2 losses in 4 games, have secured both victories at their home venue.

However, their upcoming match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 7 poses a crucial test as they seek their first away win of the campaign.
