'Forgiveness Isn't An Option... I'd Disown Him', Ramiz Raja Blasts Mohammad Amir

In an interesting development, veteran Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir joined the national team's training camp in Kakul ahead of the home T20I series against New Zealand.

Amir, who announced his shocking international retirement in 2021, reversed his decision to become available for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and the United States.

However, former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja believes Pakistan shouldn't trust the left-arm pacer, as he was involved in spot fixing, which led to his five-year ban from international cricket.

Speaking on a Pakistani TV channel, Raja opined that although he feels terrible for Amir, he shouldn't be given a clean chit to represent Pakistan again.

The ex-PCB chief even went on to state that he would've disowned his son if he had committed such a shameful act on a cricket field.

“Tainted cricketers are generally ostracized everywhere. While I feel for them, forgiveness isn’t an option for me. If, God forbid, my son had done such a thing, I would disown him,” Raja said.

Notably, Amir served his ban after being found guilty of spot-fixing. He marked his international return in 2016 and played a pivotal role for Pakistan in the 2017 Champions Trophy, helping them clinch the title with an outstanding bowling performance in the final.

However, he stunned the cricket fraternity by bidding adieu to international cricket in 2021. But with Shaheen Afridi blowing hot and cold, Pakistan might need him with the new ball and rope him into their T20 World Cup squad.
