Shaheen Afridi has been at the centre of cricket discussions in Pakistan. His performance on the field, captaincy future and his equation with colleagues are some of the issues that have been the major talking point.

The tall left-handed pacer is now set to lead Lions in Pakistan's revamped 50-over competition, Champions One-Day Cup. It has again raised eyebrows on the future of Shaheen Afridi as captain, and there are rumours that hew could be reinstated as Pakistan captain after being removed before the T20 World Cup.

Danish Kaneria Slams Instability In PCB's Decision-Making

Now, Danish Kaneria, the former Pakistan spinner who is known for his bold comments has bashed PCB for creating confusion over Shaheen's captaincy future. Kaneria speaking on his YouTube channel reckoned that if Shaheen Afridi has been made captain in the Champions One-Day Cup, it means that he might lead Pakistan again in future.

The leg-spinner goes onto question PCB and its policies and mentions that they should have kept faith in Shaheen Afridi earlier and not remove him as captain after just one bad series.

"If Shaheen Afridi has been made the captain, it means that he is being considered to lead Pakistan in the future. Why did you remove him in the first place then? They should have shown faith in him."

Shaheen Afridi captained Pakistan in five T20Is on the New Zealand tour where they lost by 4-1 margin and the pacer was immediately removed as captain after that series.

His leadership skills have been praised in the past in PSL which has kept him on the radar of national selectors. Now, the Champions One-Day Cup is another opportunity for him to impress both as a captain and as a player, and stake his claim for the leadership role of the Pakistan senior team.
