Pakistan Announce Squads For Champions Cup; Shaheen To Captain, Babar To Play Under Haris

In the latest development, The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the captains and provisional squads for the Champions One-Day Cup on September 7. The tournament is scheduled to be held in Faisalabad from 12th to 29th September 2024.
The five participating teams will be led by prominent players, with the captains appointed by the team's mentors- Misbah-ul-Haq (Wolves), Saqlain Mushtaq (Panthers), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Dolphins), Shoaib Malik (Stallions), and Waqar Younis (Lions).
The tournament will follow a single-league format and will feature the country’s top cricketers. The event will culminate in three playoff matches, with the final taking place on 29th September. The tournament opens with a match between the Wolves and Panthers on 12th September.

The provisional squads were selected through a draft process that involved 150 players. These players were chosen primarily based on their fitness tests, with 125 coming from top domestic performers over the last three seasons and 25 wildcards from Pakistan’s senior, Shaheens, and Under-19 squads.
