Former Pakistan cricketer, Basit Ali has given a life-changing advice to Babar Azam, after his poor run of form in Test cricket. The ex-cricketer suggested that the white-ball captain, Babar should now focus on his marriage.

Marriage will make Babar more mature: Ex-cricketer's advice

The former cricketer believes that Babar will be a different player, as marriage changes a person for good, and it will make Babar more mature to handle things. Things have not been going right for the former Pakistan Test skipper.

He has had a torrid time in Test cricket, failing to score runs when it matters the most. His last fifty-plus score in Test came in December 2022 against New Zealand, and since then, he has not performed according to the expectations of the people.

After Pakistan crashed out of the World Cup 2023 in India, Babar's Test captaincy was taken away and that took a toll on his mind. Also, under his regime, Pakistan bowed out of the T20 World Cup in the group stage itself, with the skipper himself failing to put runs on the board. As a result of this, Basit Ali feels Babar should get married, and it will change him for good.

"Babar Azam, talk to your parents and get married. He will be a completely different man after that. I know how a player feels when he is not performing well. I request Babar's parents to get him to marry. Like an elder brother, I want him to tell him Shaadi kar le bhai, ab umar zyada ho gayi hai teri (Get married brother, you are now old enough)."

Babar slips to 12th in Test rankings

After a horrendous series against Bangladesh, which the Tigers won 2-0, Babar has slipped three places to 12th spot in the latest ICC rankings.

He registered only 64 runs in four innings against Bangladesh, as the opposition bowlers contained him with relative ease. Babar, at one stage was at the 3rd place in the Test rankings, but failure for the last few months have meant that the former Test skipper gets demotion in the ICC rankings.
