Basit Ali, a former Pakistan cricketer has made an explosive remark regarding the current situation of Pakistan cricket. He has suggested to remove Shan Masood as the Pakistan captain, and instead, appoint Mohammad Rizwan in his place for the upcoming England Tests.

PCB's decision to remove Babar comes back to haunt them

Under Masood's captaincy, Pakistan are yet to register a single win. He has captained in 5 Tests, and interestingly has lost all 5 (3 against Australia and 2 against Bangladesh). It was under his regime that Pakistan, for the first time, lost a Test match against Bangladesh, as the Tigers clean swept the series.

PCB, took a bold step when they appointed Masood, as the leader of the Test side, last year. After Pakistan crashed out of the World Cup 2023 in India, Babar's captaincy in Test was snatched and it was given to an under-performer in Masood, and the decision has come back to haunt the PCB.

The team selection has come under scrutiny, and Masood, himself is facing the wrath of the former cricketers, including Basit Ali, who has urged PCB to remove him and appoint Rizwan as their new leader, if they are to defeat England.

"Pakistan will win the Test series against England if Mohammad Rizwan is made the captain," Basit Ali said on his YouTube channel. "You will see a different Babar Azam in the England series, but the condition is that the captain should be Rizwan."

Pakistan have slumped to a new low under Masood

Things have turned from bad to worse for Pakistan in the last couple of months. They currently sit 8th in the WTC points table and have crashed out of the race for a place in the WTC finale. Also, Pakistan have slipped down two places to 8th in the latest ICC rankings.

The team combination has been questioned, with the exclusion of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah from the second Test against Bangladesh being heavily scrutinised.

Captaincy has also affected Masood's batting performance, with no significant match-winning score in the 5 Tests that he has captained.
