Former West Indies fast bowler and cricket legend from the 1990s, Curtly Ambrose recently revealed that if given the chance to bowl to some of the modern-day batters, he would have relished the opportunity to face Indian superstar Virat Kohli.

Curtly Ambrose is a name many feared in the 1990s era of cricket. With towering height, fierce pace, and sharp bouncers, Ambrose was one of the most intimidating bowlers of his era, capable of dismantling even the best of batting line-ups.

The legendary seamer took 405 wickets across 98 Test matches and was part of a West Indies team that dominated world cricket throughout the late 1980s and 1990s. His international career wicket tally stood at 630 dismissals.

Having said that, Curtly Ambrose recently picked his favourite batters from the present modern-day generation.

If given a chance to bowl in the current setup, Ambrose named Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, and Joe Root as a few men he would love to challenge.

"Virat (Kohli), (Steven) Smith and (Joe) Root," Ambrose said when asked about the current batters he would have loved to bowl to.

While Ambrose didn't explain his choice, Virat Kohli's aggressive style, immaculate technique, and an exceptional record makes him a unique challenge, one Ambrose would have enjoyed facing.

Not only that, Curtly Ambrose advised the next generation to focus on red ball cricket as the one who aces the longer format can easily adapt to ODIs and T20 format.

Virat Kohli and Steve Smith, two of the most successful batters of the present generation, will shape the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia.

The duo, who remain in the final stages of their international career, will be keen to dominate the Test format and stamp their authority. Hence, their runs will largely influence the results of the extensive Test series.
