Former India middle-order batter Ajay Jadeja took a direct dig on premier India all-rounder Hardik Pandya over his ongoing injury absence from the scene after hurting his ankle during the ICC World Cup 2023.

Pandya, who was ruled out of the quadrennial event after falling awkwardly during the match against Bangladesh in Pune, has since also skipped the T20I series versus Australia and couldn't be fit in time to be selected for the looming trip to South Africa.

Speculations have been rife on the cricketer's potential return date. While some believe Pandya could comeback via January's set of three T20Is versus Afghanistan, few reports suggest fans might have to wait for his return to playing action until IPL 2024 ahead of the men's T20 World Cup next June.

Ajay Jadeja's Scathing Remarks On Hardik Pandya

Previously as well, the 30-year-old had undergone a prolonged injury-forced absence due to his back troubles, for which he opted for surgery in October 2019 but couldn't reattain optimum fitness levels to unveil his all-round game on the park until the IPL 2022 for Gujarat Titans (GT).

Speaking to 'Sports Today' on the developments within Indian cricket ahead of the marquee trip to the Proteas shores, Jadeja made a negative comment on the team's pivotal cricketer, stating people call him a "rare talent" for the wrong reasons.

Jadeja said Pandya is not rare for his renowned all-round skills and match-winning abilities with the ball and bat but since he is rarely present and available on the ground for Team India.

"You did not understand the meaning. He is a rare talent and is rarely seen on the ground. It is very rare and rightly so," said Jadeja, who was Afghanistan's team mentor during the World Cup.
