Bangladesh lead the two-match Test series 1-0 (Twitter)
New Zealand strive to make amends for a historic maiden Test match loss on Bangladeshi shores in the second game of the ongoing series in Dhaka from Wednesday (December 6). The tourists, who were left battered and bruised in Sylhet after a famous defeat by 150 runs, need to comeback hard if they are to avoid an embarrassing Test series loss.
The Bangladesh Tigers will be backing their chances to it as the two teams head to their den at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, where they've pulled off historic triumphs over England and Australia in the past eight years and could be adding the Kiwi scalp under their belt by the end of this week.
BAN vs NZ: Team Previews
Bangladesh
Bangladesh would believe they've got a foot on Black Caps' throats after their impressive victory in Sylhet. Led from the front by their skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, who produced a memorable century in the second half to swell Bangladesh's target to a defendable 332, the Bangla Tigers would be putting the Kiwis to another stiff test with their spin battery.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Nayeem Hasan kept the pressure relentlessly on the New Zealand batters and allowed the experienced Taijul Islam to attack consistently at his end. Taijul, who is highly underrated even by Bangladeshi fans, delivered prizeless spells and ended with a match haul of 10 for 184 in his team's win.
Bangladesh would bank on their spinners once again and hope to find more substance and consistency from the batting unit after a number of their players missed out on big scores despite finding encouraging starts at the crease.
New Zealand

New Zealand will have to refined their techniques for the pursuit to merely play the sweeps and reverse sweeps didn't offer them good enough cover against quality spin bowling on a dry pitch in Sylhet. Their batters lack the defensive nous and depth at the crease to withstand consistent threat of spin at either end and must follow the footsteps of their batting great Kane Williamson.
Of all the Kiwi batters, only the modern-day giant posed a steadfast defence and gritty attitude to overcome Taijul for the best part of his brilliant first-innings hundred. Only Daryl Mitchell with his measured 58 in the second innings produced another fifty-plus score for the Kiwis in either innings.
That will have to change apart from their spin strategy where for all his wickets and batting resilience down the order, wristspinner Ish Sodhi offered New Zealand insignificant control. Bringing in Mitchell Santner for him could solve two issues for New Zealand: give them depth and infuse an extra left-hand batting option to counter the Taijul threat.

BAN vs NZ: Dhaka Pitch Report
As Bangladesh hunt for that maiden Test series win against New Zealand, expected Mirpur to be at its dry, spiteful turning best in terms of the playing surface. Renowned for its square turners, Dhaka could replicate its historic streak for the coming Test match as the Bangla Tigers' spin trio try to suppress BlackCaps' quest to equalise the rubber 1-1. If the batting picks itself up once again, Bangladesh could well be in for another famous triumph under their bags.

BAN vs NZ: Winner Prediction
If it turns square and Bangladesh's batting holds up like it did in Sylhet, they could be in for another memorable Test match feat in Dhaka. The Bangla Tigers and their spinners have a greater understanding of the conditions and skill to back their cases than their Kiwi counterparts.
