According to a recent interview with South African legend AB de Villiers, it is anticipated that Virat Kohli will play the final phase of his career in South Africa. De Villiers, who shares a longstanding friendship with Kohli from their time at Royal Challengers Bangalore, believes that South Africa can provide a fitting farewell for the cricketing legend.

Expressing optimism, de Villiers stated that it is "very much possible" to entice Kohli to play in South Africa.

He said: "I think it would be very possible to get Virat over here. Maybe for his final season, we'll give him a wonderful farewell for the end of his career."

Continuing the conversation, de Villiers mentioned that he has not had an official discussion with Virat Kohli yet but has already talked with the likes of Robin Uthappa and R.P. Singh. De Villiers anticipates the participation of these former cricket stars in South Africa, expressing hope for a reunion in the T20 format.

"I haven't discussed it with any players except for Robin Uthappa and R.P Singh. Not so long ago, we did some work together and I told them it would be great to see them over there."

As the brand ambassador of the South African T20 league, AB de Villiers expresses his belief that the league ranks as the second most popular T20 league globally, just behind the IPL and ahead of tournaments like the Big Bash League.

India is set to face South Africa starting from 10th December onwards. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have requested a break from the white-ball format and are expected to make their return to the squad for the Test series against the Proteas.
