Former England captain Michael Vaughan took a brutal dig at the England and Wales Cricket Board's (ECB) decision to recall England players from the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the home series against Pakistan.

He commented that the decision to call back players from IPL to play the series against Pakistan was a wrong choice that the ECB has made.

Initially, Vaughan defended the ECB and stated that prioritizing national duty over league cricket was the right call. This was in response to criticism the players faced from Indian cricket legends Sunil Gavaskar and Irfan Pathan, who were unhappy with the timing of the recall, as it impacted the players' participation in the IPL.

Michael Vaughan's Shocking Comments ECB's Decision

During the second T20I match between England and Pakistan at Edgbaston, the former England cricketer expressed a starkly different view, and criticised the board for their decision.

Speaking to the Club Prairie, Fire podcast, Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist claimed that it was a 'missed opportunity' for England players and missed the IPL playoffs.

"I think you’re going to miss the trick by sending all their players home. You know, I think Will Jacks, Phil Salt, Josh Butler, in particular, playing in the IPL in the eliminators, pressure, crowd, expectation. I would argue that playing here is better preparation than playing a T20 game against Pakistan,"  Michael Vaughan said.

The opening game against Pakistan was washed out due to rain in Headingley before the hosts scripted a 23-run win in the second game to take a series lead.
