The first batch of Indian players, including captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja, has departed for the USA for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

But Sanju Samson, who has been selected for his first ICC event, has not yet traveled to the US. He will be traveling in the next group along with vice-captain Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli.

Samson cites personal commitment as the reason for delay

Sanju Samson was expected to join the Indian team soon, but he informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India that he needs a short break due to a personal commitment in Dubai, which the BCCI has accepted.

Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals were knocked out of the IPL after losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 on Friday.

With RR's exit, none of the players from the 15-man squad for the World Cup T20 remain in the IPL. Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal were the last two players from the squad to be eliminated from the tournament.

Kohli, Hardik to join squad later

Virat Kohli is delayed in joining the squad due to some pending paperwork, according to reports. Consequently, Kohli is likely to miss the first warm-up game against Bangladesh.

At the same time, Hardik Pandya's arrival is also delayed, though the reasons remain unknown. Recent reports suggest Hardik might be dealing with some personal issues. However, it is reported that Hardik could be training in London before joining the team directly.

India will face Ireland on June 5th in their first game of the World Cup. The highly anticipated India-Pakistan group game is scheduled for June 9th.
