On Saturday evening, England took the lead in the 4-match T20I series at Edgbaston in the 2nd T20I as Pakistan fell short by 23 runs to chase England's 183.

After winning the toss, Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam put England in to bat first where Jos Buttler led the Englishmen from the front, scoring 84 (51), he was also supported by Will Jacks who scored 37(23) in their 71-run stand. Shaheen Afridi scalped 3/36 and Imad Wasim ended with 2/19.

During the run chase, Fakhar Zaman scored 45 (21) followed by a cameo from Imad Wasim, scoring 22 (13). However, Pakistan fell short by 23 runs, thanks to 3/41 from Reece Topley, Moeen Ali's 2/26 and Jofra Archer's 2/28 on his return.

Reacting to the loss, Babar Azam admitted to not doing well enough with the bat despite having some moments,

"It was a par score and our bowlers bowled well. While batting, there were moments, we didn't finish well. Small partnership between me and Fakhar but there was no big partnership after that. If someone got 40 and 50s, it could have been different."

On the roles of players in the team and not being able to play longer,

"We are flexible, everyone knows their role. We have decided on each player's role. Fakhar dominated after wickets fell and if I and Fakhar had batted for three more overs, it would have been a different game."

Azam also credited Imad Wasim for his brilliant all round performance and backed Shadab Khan who had a poor game.

Pakistan trail 0-1 in the T20I series, and the next match of the 4-match series takes place on May 28.
