Former Indian cricketer and now outspoken commentator, Aakash Chopra, didn’t pull any punches as he criticized the Pakistan team after their stunning 10-wicket loss to Bangladesh in the first Test at Rawalpindi on Sunday.

The PAK vs SL 1st Test, which initially seemed under Pakistan’s control, took an unexpected turn due to a series of baffling decisions, ultimately leading to one of the most surprising defeats in recent memory.

The turning point came when Pakistan, sitting pretty at 448 with four wickets still in hand, inexplicably declared their first innings. This bold move, intended to assert dominance, left fans and experts scratching their heads, as it ultimately handed Bangladesh the keys to the match.

Chopra didn’t hold back his thoughts on the matter, taking to Twitter to deliver a cutting remark:

“Not many teams lose a Test match after declaring their first innings with 400+ runs and 4 wickets to spare. At Home. Pakistan cricket is a gift that keeps giving,” wrote Chopra.

Meanwhile, the decision to declare early proved disastrous for Pakistan. Bangladesh’s experienced spinners, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan, exploited the situation to the fullest, while Pakistan’s pace-heavy attack faltered on a pitch offering minimal support.

Mehidy and Shakib dominated the second innings, claiming seven vital wickets between them, as Pakistan's batting order crumbled under pressure, managing a dismal 146 runs.

With only 30 runs needed for victory, Bangladesh swiftly chased down the target in just 6.3 overs, securing a historic win—their first-ever Test win against Pakistan in 14 encounters.

This victory was a landmark achievement for Bangladesh cricket, leaving Pakistan to grapple with the bitter consequences of their failed strategy.
