In a dramatic turn of events at Tarouba, Trinbago Knight Riders Women (TKR-W) clinched their first victory of the Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) 2024, edging out the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women (GAW-W) in a nail-biting Super Over.

The WCPL 2024 match, which saw both teams locked at 128 runs after the full 20 overs, was a much-needed win for Trinbago Knight Riders Women, keeping their hopes alive in the tournament after two consecutive losses.

But the real showstopper of the night wasn’t just the action on the field—it was the celebration that followed. Embracing their owner Shah Rukh Khan’s signature style, five members of the TKR-W squad, including Jess Jonassen and Jemimah Rodrigues danced on the iconic "Lungi Dance."

The video, shared on TKR-W’s Twitter handle, went viral in no time, capturing the hearts of fans who lauded not only their on-field heroics but also their off-field flair. The Knight Riders celebrated their win and brought the house down with their infectious energy.

As for the match, TKR-W, led by Deandra Dottin, set the tone right from the get-go. Winning the toss and opting to bat, Dottin played a captain’s knock, smashing 53 off 38 balls. Her innings featured six boundaries and three sixes.

However, after Dottin’s departure, the middle order folded like a pack of cards, with Harshitha Samarawickrama’s 18 off 18 being the only other notable contribution.

Shabnim Ismail and Karishma Ramharack were the stars with the ball for GAW-W, each picking up two wickets and applying the brakes on TKR-W’s scoring. Yet, a late push from Shikha Pandey (25 off 24) and Kycia Knight (16 off 22) ensured TKR-W reached a fighting total of 128/8.

GAW-W’s chase began on shaky ground, losing their openers early and finding themselves at 25/2. However, a solid partnership between Shemaine Campbelle and Erin Burns steadied the ship.

Burns was in sublime form, anchoring the innings with a composed 61 off 50 balls. But just when it seemed GAW-W would sail home, Burns was run out on the final ball, leaving the match tied and pushing it into a Super Over.

The Super Over was all about Deandra Dottin. She took the bull by the horns, smashing 13 runs off 4 balls, including two sixes, setting GAW-W a huge target of 20 runs.

GAW-W, faced with an uphill battle, crumbled under pressure. Jess Jonassen delivered the final blow, dismissing Erin Burns for a duck and restricting GAW-W to just 2 runs, sealing a thrilling victory for the Knight Riders.
